Therefore, a converter is required to convert AC to DC for LED lighting.

The purpose of this article is to introduce an efficient 12V AC to DC converter for LED lighting. The 12V DC output is suitable for many types of LED lighting, such as LED strip lights, LED bulbs, and LED panels. This converter is designed to be compact, lightweight, and easy to use.

The converter is based on a common circuit called the bridge rectifier. The bridge rectifier consists of four diodes arranged in a bridge configuration. The diodes rectify the AC voltage into a pulsating DC voltage. However, this pulsating DC voltage is not suitable for LED lighting because it causes flickering and reduces the lifespan of the LED. Therefore, a smoothing capacitor is added to filter out the pulsating component of the DC voltage and provide a stable DC voltage.
