AC-DC converters are electronic devices that are used to change alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC). There are several types of AC-DC converters that are used in different applications. One common type is the linear AC-DC converter, which uses a linear regulator to regulate the output voltage. This type of converter is simple and reliable, but it is not very efficient and generates a lot of heat.
Another type of AC-DC converter is the switch-mode power supply (SMPS). This type of converter uses a switching regulator to regulate the output voltage. The switching regulator switches the input voltage on and off rapidly, which reduces the amount of heat generated and makes the converter more efficient.
AC-DC converters are widely used in many applications, including home appliances, computers, and televisions. They are also used in industrial applications such as motor control and power supplies for factory equipment.
